Yellow Fire

Yellow Fire is one of the first varieties developed by Fred Hempel (Artisan Seeds). Little known but highly appreciated for its spectacular appearance and culinary versatility. The plant is vigorous and produces an abundance of medium-sized fruits. The Roma-type fruits are elongated, more or less plump, ending in a point that is often slightly invaginated. Its bright yellow skin, striped with orange-red, gives it a flamboyant appearance. Its flesh is dense and meaty but relatively juicy, containing few seeds. It is excellent for sauces, preserves, and drying, where it yields “little sugar bombs,” but its flavor is significantly superior to most other Roma-type tomatoes, also allowing for good fresh consumption.
