Hurt Berry

The Hurt Berry is a creation of British grower Graham Lee Warburton. This variety comes from a complex cross, starting with a Reaper × Jigsaw, to which an unidentified Moruga variety was then added, giving birth to a lineage as violent as it is impressive. Its name comes from a group of chili enthusiasts (chileheads) in a UK pub, after they tasted this infernal cross: the intense burn inspired them to call it “Hurt Berry.” The abundant fruits are extremely bumpy and spiky, ripening from green to dark red. Their aggressive appearance truly reflects the power they contain. Beneath this intensity, however, a subtle fruity flavor can be distinguished.
