German Orange Strawberry

German Orange Strawberry is a variety discovered by Marjorie Morris in Indiana, USA, as a lost seed in a commercial packet of ‘Ananas’ tomatoes. She then passed the variety on to specialist Carolyn Male, who first published it in the 1995 Seed Savers Exchange Yearbook. Renowned for its splendid large heart-shaped fruits, a bright and luminous orange reminiscent of a giant strawberry, hence its evocative name. The fruits have very few seeds, are meaty, slightly flattened towards the base, and very generous, with thick, dense, and melting flesh, worthy of the best beefsteak tomatoes. The flavor is sweet, fruity, rich, and perfectly balanced, with a silky texture ideal for thick slices, salads, and cooking.
