The Genghis Khan Brain was created and developed by the AIASP organization (Associazione Italiana Amatori Spezie e Peperoncino). The details of the cross for this extremely hot pepper remain unknown. The seeds were made available to the public in 2015, as part of an initiative to support AIASP’s seed research and preservation programs in Italy, although the variety had been created several years prior. The fruits, with a very bumpy ‘brain’ profile, have a rough and blistered skin. They ripen from green to intense red, displaying a formidable heat capable of rivaling that of the Carolina Reaper, according to several growers. Beneath this extreme intensity, the Genghis Khan Brain reveals a fruity and slightly floral flavor, balanced by sweet and earthy notes. Its thick, oily flesh contains an exceptional concentration of capsaicin.
