The Story of Sick & Twisted
Pepper Seeds
The story of Sick & Twisted Pepper Seeds began long before the current craze for hot peppers. The passion for this fascinating fruit was born from a gift from an acquaintance: a small, mysterious potted pepper plant, given to Marc-André Gauthier‘s partner.
This small plant was cultivated indoors for two years, sitting proudly in the kitchen and producing small, spicy fruits that the couple directly incorporated into their recipes. It was eventually transplanted to the garden, alongside other sweet pepper varieties. This first plant sparked curiosity; the flame was lit!
At that time, Marc-André was still unaware of the incredible diversity of existing pepper varieties. He simply cultivated his garden with his family, while also taking care of the farm and its animals. But, season after season, this discovery transformed into a true fascination with peppers.
Gradually, several varieties were cultivated, observed, and tested, and the passion for these small fiery bushes continued to grow. For the past four years, Sick & Twisted Pepper Seeds has been cultivating and collecting an impressive number of varieties, with the goal of preserving, documenting, and sharing their seeds with transparency and respect for their lineage. Today, hundreds of pepper and tomato plants are cultivated there each year with care and passion.

In 2025, a new chapter opened with the arrival of Richard McDonald to the team.
A former mycologist specializing in mushroom cultivation, Richard quickly established himself in Quebec as the best pepper grower thanks to his knowledge, perseverance, and exemplary methodology. Captivated by the world of hot peppers, he now holds the role of head grower, perfecting cultivation, isolation, and genetic stabilization techniques for the varieties.
For his part, Marc-André now handles management, marketing, commercialization, and brand development.
Their vision: to promote the world of peppers based on rigor, transparency, and authenticity, by valuing the work of creators as well as the diversity of varieties, whether heritage or recent.
Today, Sick & Twisted Pepper Seeds has established itself as a leader in Quebec and beyond its borders. Their seeds are now distributed and cultivated worldwide, and their popularity continues to grow. Sick & Twisted Pepper Seeds is no longer just a seed company; it’s a true benchmark for pepper enthusiasts.
