Sgt Pepper

SGT Pepper’s is a modern beefsteak variety, a cross between German Red Strawberry and OSU Blue, created by Jason Haynes. The plant is indeterminate, with slender stems and drooping foliage, requiring sturdy staking to support the fruit’s weight. The tomatoes are beefsteak-type, more or less elongated, with pink to strawberry-red skin, marked with indigo streaks and strong blue-black anthocyanin shoulders when well exposed to the sun. The flesh is dense, very meaty, juicy, with very few seeds, and offers a rich, sweet, well-balanced flavor, appreciated both fresh and in cooking. Production is abundant and consistent from mid-season until the first frost, and the fruits store well after harvest.
