Anna Russian

Anna Russian is a very old heirloom variety originating from Russia, whose true age remains unknown. The seeds were brought to North America by a Russian immigrant, then given to Kenneth Wilcox, in Oregon. His granddaughter, Brenda Hillenius, then inherited the variety and passed it on in 1989 to collector Craig LeHoullier, who introduced it into the Seed Savers Exchange Yearbook. It produces large, fleshy, heart-shaped fruits, slightly ribbed, with sweet, juicy, and fragrant flesh. Its rosy red color and balanced taste make it a remarkable table tomato. Vigorous, early, and with very high productivity, it adapts particularly well to shorter seasons or cool climates. It is recognized for its exceptional earliness for an oxheart variety and for its very generous production.
